Lisboa

Well here I am at my starting point. I flew out of Heathrow yesterday (13th March) and landed at 6 p.m. But by the time I sorted out reassembling my bike and the panniers it was dark in Lisbon.

Quite an experience cycling in a city you are unfamiliar with in the dark on what seems to be the wrong side of the road. But all was well and good in the end.

Well today has been quite a relaxed day apart from this guy that was trying to sell me dope. He ended up following me down the street for some time. At one point I thought he was going to try and mug me, so I stopped, turned around and shot him some major evils to convince him to bugger of. He was quite a persistent chap. Must be the man bag, I always seem to attrack the weirdos. But anyway apart from that it has been quite a nice day. A bit of sightseeing, reading and a visit to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. St Georges Castle I'm guessing.

The plan now is to start cycling on Saturday. So that leaves 2 days left for Lisbon. May head to the beach for one of them since I have worked out that I am Not going to be by the coast till after I cross the Pyrenees and drop down into France. I'll miss the coast so I better go and see it while I can. Looking at the web site I see that it is now up to 1825 pounds, so that is a lot of miles ahead of me. But that is all good motivation for when I start.

Well cheers guys I'll keep you posted as often as possible.
